ROGER MEDDOWS-TAYLOR

As Arranger

Being much less musically-oriented than his bandmates, Roger's arrangements were often simple and direct unless he got assistance from the others. A short overview on some of his Queen songs:

- Modern Times Rock N' Roll: Punkish drumming, guitars, bass and piano doing more or less the same thing, and parallel vocal harmonies.

- Tenement Funster: Guitars doing arpeggios, piano playing chords, simple drumming. Harmonies are chiefly chordal with some pyramid thrown in before the last chorus.

- Drowse: Guitars playing chords (and a slide one), simple patterns for bass and drums, octave vocals (most of the time).

- Sheer Heart Attack: Amateurish bass (played by Taylor himself), guitar power chords, punk-spoof drumming, Taylor-esque block harmonies.

- Action This Day: Monotone drum-beat, bass doubling guitar (sort of), simple piano chords, duet between Roger (in octaves) and Freddie.

- Ride the Wild Wind: Monotone drums and bass, some power chords from guitar, dueting vocals.
