JOHN RICHARD DEACON

As Guitarist

John was a quite underrated guitarist, but he did play a lot in Queen:

- White Queen: I've always suspected that the acoustic solo is his. More on that later...

- Father to Son: Some strummed parts are very Deacy in sound (compare them with Misfire or You And I)

- Funny How Love Is: Ditto.

- Misfire: Both acoustic and electric, probably including the solo.

- Tenement Funster: Acoustic

- In the Lap of the Gods: Acoustic

- She Makes Me: Acoustic

- You And I: Raucous acoustic, overdubbed after Freddie's vocal.

- Spread Your Wings: Fingerpicked acoustic.

- Who Needs You?: Spanish guitars (probably including some of the solos).

- In Only Seven Days: Acoustic

- If You Can't Beat Them: Electric rhythm

- Another One Bites the Dust: Electric rhythm (including the so-called solo)

- Need Your Loving Tonight: Acoustic and possibly electric rhythm.

- Arboria: Electric.

- Escape from the Swamp: Electric.

- Cool Cat: Electric.

- Staying Power: Electric (live, at least).

- Back Chat: Electric (loads of them).

- I Want to Break Free: Acoustic and electric rhythm.

- Pain is So Close to Pleasure: Electric rhythm.

- Friends Will Be Friends: Electric rhythm.

- Don't Lose Your Head: Electric rhythm.

- Party: Electric rhythm.

- My Baby Does Me: Electric rhythm.

- Rain Must Fall: Electric rhythm.
