TIE YOUR MOTHER DOWN Brian got the opening track of the album more often than the others ('I', 'II', 'Sheer', 'Races', 'News', 'Flash', 'Magic'). Tie Your Mother Down was famous as a live number, and remains a very well-known song.

Brian wrote it in Tenerife. He wanted to change the title but Freddie considered it was good as it was.
They actually played it on stage before recording it (a rare case for this era). The studio arrangement is very detailed in terms of vocals, as opposed to the simple live version.
