Footnotes:

1: "I write best when I'm not on guitar; maybe a few riffs or the basis, but strangely enough, you usually get the most perspective on a song when you're on an instrument that you're not accustomed to. I'm not accustomed to playing the piano and I find that quite inspiring, because your fingers fall on different patterns. Whereas on a guitar, I pick it up and know where my fingers are going to fall" - Brian May (1982).

2: The harmonised line "this night and evermore" has Brian on lead & backing vocals.

LAS PALABRAS DE AMOR

Brian on a Roland Jupiter 8 analogue synthesiser.

In terms of harmony and form this is one of the simplest songs in the Queen catalogue. Brian probably wrote it on piano (1), but it's performed in a guitar-friendly key. Peaking at #17 in the UK but being a fugacious hit on continent, Las Palabras de Amor remains a favourite of loads of fans who often claim it as one of the few worthy pieces in 'Hot Space'.

There are some nice variants (more than those sketched in the chart above) and phrasing tricks (e.g. first chorus lasts 6 1/2 measures).
